The newly promoted Parow-based side, Cape Town Spurs, has announced that they have mutually agreed with head coach, Shaun Bartlett, to terminate his contract with the club.
In a statement released on Monday morning by Cape Town Spurs on Twitter, the two parties—the club and head coach—had an extensive review and discussion in consideration of the club's current results, which led to an agreement on the termination of the head coach contract with immediate effect.
Cape Town Spurs are currently in 16th place after playing seven games; they are the only side in the Dstv Premiership to not collect a point after seven games this season. They have scored four goals and conceded a thriller of 15 goals in the last seven league games.
According to the club's statement, the club's CEO, Alex Efstathiou, and the newly appointed technical director, Sean Connor, have already begun restructuring the coaching structure. The candidates to replace Bartlett have been identified, and their appointment is expected to be announced soon.
The Urban Warriors, in their statement, have expressed their gratitude to the former Bafana Bafana striker for being with the club, saying they appreciate his work at the club.
"The club wish to place on record our appreciation for Shaun’s work during his time at the club most significantly promoting the club back to the PSL. We recognise this is not an easy decision for all parties, but it has been taken with the club's long-term interest at heart."
The Cape Town Spurs will play SuperSport United at home on Wednesday at Athlone Stadium.
