The former Burnley U18 centre forward, Tremaine Eastmond, is reportedly training with the Buccaneers in hopes of impressing the Spanish-born coach Jose Riveiro and possibly securing a deal following his recent release by the Urban Warriors, Cape Town Spurs.

The local publication, iDiski Times, reported on Tuesday that the 20-year-old English forward is being assessed by the Buccaneers after starting his trials with the club last week.

“The 20-year-old arrived for his training stint at the Pirates last week after parting ways with the Cape Town Spurs, where he was not in the plans of head coach Ernst Middendorp.

"iDiski Times understands he’s been training with the first team with the hopes of landing a deal as he looks to establish himself in South African football,” iDiski Times reported.

Despite the five centre forwards that the club has, the Sea robbers are seemingly looking to re-enforce their striker department ahead of the 2024–25 season.

The five centre forwards include Kermit Erasmus, whose 2-year contract with the club signed in 2022 is due to expire at the end of the season, and the on-fire Tshegofatso Mabasa, who recently scored a hat-trick over the weekend. Other players include Zakhele Lepasa, Evidence Mokgopa, and Sauaibou Marou.

Eastmond joined Cape Town Spurs on a free transfer from the EFL League one side, AFL Blackpool, in October last year, towards the end of the first round of the DST Premiership.

Since his arrival on the Cape Winelands side, he has never made his debut for the club, as he seemed to have not worked hard enough to earn a spot in the first eleven.

In his stunt with Clarets U18 in the Premier League, Eastmond scored four goals and provided four assists in 27 appearances.
